Menma Books is a small independent book publisher based in West Cork, Ireland. Menma is an Old Irish word for understanding and wisdom.

We are mainly, though not exclusively, interested in nonfiction, especially well-written memoirs. The quality of our books is very important to us; we take special care to give each book the attention to detail it deserves—from editing to design and from design to print. We know that publishing is a collaborative process and work with our authors to reach the standards that they and readers expect.

Menma Books is run by Maurice Sweeney. After a long career as a newspaper journalist and designer (Hibernia, The Irish Press, The Irish Times, and The Sunday Business Post), he set up an editing and production service for authors, book publishers and academic organisations. He began publishing full-time in late 2021 and set up Menma Books in August 2023.

Shannon Morrissey oversees promotion and publicity. She has a degree in English and French and worked for a while in Sydney, Australia, as a publicity and marketing specialist (Echo Books, imprint of Bonnier Books, Sydney), and as an editorial assistant (Halstead Press, Sydney) before returning to Ireland.
